Tambovskaia Indeika expands its facilities and increases its production by 50%

Tambovskaia Indeika, the turkey manufacturing company that is the outcome of the partnership between Grupo Fuertes and Cherkizovo Group, has begun a new phase in the construction of its facilities which will see its production increase by 50%, with an annual output of up to 85,000 tonnes.

The new facilities, the product of a 50-million euro investment, features three finishing sites and a nursery, in addition to a slaughterhouse, a feed factory, an incubator and a motor transport unit. The complex’s expansion is scheduled to be completed by mid-2021.

The company, which is based in the Pervormaysky District in the Russian region of Tambov, boasts a considerable social impact in this area. The launch and construction of this second phase has led to the creation of 250 new jobs, which will join the company’s existing 1,400-strong workforce.

The works’ inauguration ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Oksana Luth, Head of Tambov Region Administration Alexander Nikitin and the CEO of Cherkizovo Group, Sergey Mikhailov.

Their Spanish counterparts, Rafael Fuertes, the Group’s president and CEO, along with Mª José Cánovas Fuertes, corporate director of Human Resources and Legal Services, and Augusto Fuertes, Chief Strategy&Investment Officer, sent a message of congratulations and wished them the best for this next stage.

In 2019, Tambovskaia Indeika became the second-biggest turkey producer in Russia. The first expansion stage, which took place between 2015 and 2017, saw the market release of the company’s first products, which included cold minced meat and a range of ready-to-cook products with natural spices.
