2/05/2024

The Jumilla-based company is seeking to diversify its offer and consolidate the quality of its wines and its presence in other territories

Bodegas Luzón, belonging to Grupo Fuertes, has acquired the century-old Corral winery, located in the town of Navarrete, in La Rioja, with which it enters the Rioja Designation of Origin and intends to diversify its offer and expand its presence in other territories.

With this investment, which amounts to €3.8 million, Bodegas Luzón enters the Rioja Alta wine-growing region with the aim of positioning and consolidating the quality of its wines in two eminently wine-growing areas and supporting two of Spain’s oldest designations of origin.

Bodegas Luzón plans to make a series of additional investments for the future development and growth of the winery. Following the acquisition, the Jumilla-based company expects to be able to launch its first wines under the Rioja designation on the market in the coming weeks, with the aim of maintaining the production developed so far with quality and organic wines, as well as the wine tourism activity, and consolidating the history and tradition of the winery, located on the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route.

Corral, which was founded in 1898, is located on the axis of the Pilgrims’ Route to Santiago del Norte and the Pilgrims’ Route to Navarre. The San Juan de Arce Pilgrims’ Hospital was built in this enclave, the remains of which are inside the winery. The facilities, which were built in 1974, also have 13 hectares of vineyards, growing Tempranillo grapes of great winegrowing value.

Bodegas Luzón is one of the largest producers of wine in the Jumilla Designation of Origin, and their products have a distinctive personality and a high level of prestige among both experts and consumers.
