ElPozo Alimentación pledges support to the ‘Restaurants against Hunger’ campaign

26/07/2016

ElPozo Alimentación has become a sponsor of the ‘Restaurants against Hunger’ campaign, promoted by the NGO Action against Hunger, in collaboration with the Spanish National Hostelry Federation, and which has as its aim to fight against child malnutrition.

It is the greatest solidarity initiative from the Spanish catering industry and will take place from 15th September to the 15th November. For the second year running the campaign has an exceptional backer, as is Joan Roca, the chef of one of the best restaurants in the world.

The restaurants that join the campaign choose the dishes or menus with which they participate and assign each one a donation of between 0.5 and two euros. For each dish which is ordered, the restaurant will directly give the assigned donation to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of malnutrition. Furthermore, customers will be able to make additional donations in the collection boxes found in the restaurants, or by sending a text message.

ElPozo Alimentación is particularly involved in this project’s promotion and diffusion and encourages its main customers, consumers and workers to contribute to the success of this solidarity initiative.

Besides Joan Roca, the project, which is in its seventh edition this year, is also backed by other great chefs such as Quique Dacosta, Paco Morales and Koldo Rodero, as well as Makro, Cafés Candelas or Fundación Seur.

Action against Hunger is an international independent humanitarian organization which works to combat child malnutrition as well as guaranteeing water and safe livelihoods to the most vulnerable populations. It is present in more than 45 countries, supporting 15 million people. Its vision is a world without malnutrition, and its first objective is to give back the dignity to those who live under the constant threat of hunger.

As well as being present in restaurants throughout, ElPozo is the favourite brand for Spanish households, as four out of five consume its products. With its philosophy of constant improvement, the company dedicates a large part of its resources to developing balanced and nutritional food and includes in its CSR plans actions of a social, environmental and economic nature aimed at improving the environment in which it undertakes its activity.
