Sediasa Alimentación starts the construction of its new processing centre in Rivas Vaciamadrid

The company Sediasa Alimentación, part of the holding company Grupo Fuertes, has started the construction of its new centre for processing, packaging and distribution of food products in the Madrid municipality of Rivas Vaciamadrid, with an investment of 40 million euros and an execution time of one year.

The company specialised in slicing and packaging food for distribution will have modern installations with a high level of automation in the production processes which will connect the different areas of production, packaging and preparation of meat orders, delicatessen and bread crumbed meat.

500 people will work in the new Sediasa Alimentación centre and the business activity will generate 1,800 indirect jobs. The plant has a construction area of 22,000 m sq. in a plot of land measuring 36,512 metres.

The new plant has been designed to comply with the most demanding quality regulations for international distribution, USDA, FSIS, FDA, IFS and BCR. The installations will guarantee food traceability and safety, and will have systems of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points, (HACCP) in place which ensure the quality of the finished product. Its operation is based on energy efficiency and sustainability to allow an absolute respect of the environment.

Sediasa Alimentación, which has as its main objective to add value in the food supply and distribution chain, finished last year with a turnover of 125 million euros, and it is a leader for its production capacity, with 70 million kilos yearly.

The company was born in 2007 in response to the growing demand from the consumer for sliced products which are adapted to the characteristics of each household. Its task focuses on the preparation of self-service type food (packaged and ready to take away), solutions which are gaining more and more weight in the shopping basket.
