Procavi considers exporting to Thailand

Technical Inspectors from Thailand’s Ministry of Agriculture, accompanied by representatives from their Spanish counterpart are today carrying out an audit of Procavi in order to approve the export of its products to the Asian country.

The necessary requirements set by the Thai government to be able to export to their territory are some of the most demanding on an international level. Once it has the approval, Procavi will , fundamentally, meat and bone meal for the preparation of pet food. The Company has marked as an objective to have Thailand making up 20 per cent of its meat and bone meal exports in two years’ time.

With a population of 68 million inhabitants and a GDP of over 395,000 million American dollars in 2015, the Thai market plays an increasingly more active role in Asia’s commercial relationships.

In 2015 the value of Spanish exports to this destination was above 400 million euros. These results indicate that the Thai market will offer good opportunities to develop successful commercial relationships over the next few years.

Procavi continues strengthening its presence abroad, shown in the increase of its exports which exceeded 37 million in 2015. Its sales abroad are mainly in Europe, where it has offices in Portugal, France and Italy.

The Company also sells its products in Eastern Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa and is widening its operating range to include Persian Gulf countries, taking advantage of Halal products which are suitable for Muslim consumers. Asia is a key market to increase its international presence in the short term.
