The company’s waste recovery rate is over 95%

El Pozo Alimentación has been awarded the Zero Waste certification by AENOR, endorsing its proper waste management and preventing it from being thrown into landfill. The waste recovery rate of El Pozo Alimentación is over 95%, 5% more than the 90% required to obtain this certification.

To improve its environmental performance, the company has implemented measures designed to boost the circular economy and promote waste reduction, recycling and recovery.

In this way, El Pozo Alimentación has positioned itself as the first company in the meat sector to obtain the ECOSENSE certification, an initiative that guarantees that PET plastic trays and film packaging are recovered, recycled and reincorporated into the production process.

The company has defined its environmental sustainability strategy by basing its production processes on carbon neutrality, zero waste and zero dumping. Moreover, aware of the scarcity of resources in many parts of the world, the company is very conscious of food waste.

To manage its resources efficiently and responsibly, the food company promotes, among other measures, the use of ecodesign in its products and optimises its logistics to the maximum. The company has joined the circular economy called for by all the stakeholders it operates with and it commits to improving its environmental performance.
