Bodegas Luzón launches the 2019 vintage of its most emblematic wine: Altos de Luzón, pure essence of Monastrell and a tribute to the roots and culture of Jumilla. Its main objective is to promote the flavour of a variety, a land and a way of understanding wine.

Altos de Luzón 2019, which is organic and suitable for vegans, is based on a viticulture of absolute respect. The process begins with the pruning of the rainfed vineyards, located at an altitude of 675 metres above sea level. The grapes are then harvested by hand in boxes of 10 to 15 kilos, which are transported to a refrigerated chamber at 6ºC, where they remain for 24 hours. Then, they are taken to the table where a second selection is made to select the best grapes, prior to their vatting and fermentation.

With this product, the winery pursues the paradigm of what a Monastrell wine should be: powerful with expressive and intense aromas, with a persistence and complexity achieved by the addition of the correct amount of wood, but which does not overshadow the fruit and maturity of the Monastrell.

This wine has a deep red colour with ruby reflections, its aromas are expressive and intense, with notes of red and black fruits, sweet spices and a soft smokiness from the ageing process. In the mouth, it is frank with a lively freshness that speaks of the vintage, supported by its fruity character. On the palate, it is ample and full-bodied, with fine tannins and a persistent finish in which its complexity can be appreciated. It is a singular red wine that conveys its terroir and the winery’s philosophy.

The launch of this new vintage was celebrated at Bodegas Luzón with a historic vertical tasting to which eight people were invited from among the more than 400 who participated in a draw. The lucky winners enjoyed the unique experience of tasting the 2019, 2017, 2014, 2005 and 2003 vintages of this charismatic wine.
