Aquadeus acquires a bottled natural mineral water company in Granada to continue expanding

29/03/2019

The water, of exceptional quality due to its weak mineralisation and low sodium content, comes from the “Dúrcal” spring in Sierra Nevada

The facilities are to begin production in May

The natural mineral water company Aquadeus, part of Grupo Fuertes, has bought a bottled water plant in Dúrcal (Granada) to boost its national and international expansion. The water from Sierra Nevada is of an exceptional quality due to its weak mineralisation and low sodium content, similar characteristics to the Fuente Arquillo spring in Robledo (Albacete).

The facilities which are currently being finalised, the result of an investment of more than one million euros, will be operative from May and will mean a 30 per cent increase for the company in the next few years in the Community of Andalucia, from where 25 per cent of its annual turnover currently comes.

More specifically, the plant has three bottling lines; one for multi-format bottles of 0.33l, 0.5l, 1.5l and 2l, another for 5 litres, and a third for glass presentations.  In the next few months a fourth line is to be incorporated to bottle 8-litre carafes.

The start-up of this plant will free up 30 per cent of the production in Aquadeus’ current plant in Albacete and will ease the development of its commercial presence in the rest of Spain and in international markets.

The spring where the water which the new Aquadeus plant bottles comes from the western slope of the mountain Pico Veleta which, with an altitude of 3398 metres, is the fourth highest peak in Spain.

The natural mineral water company Aquadeus is firmly committed to development given that it has just invested more than three million euros in enlarging its facilities located in Robledo (Albacete) to increase its productive capacity by 20 per cent and thus reach the appropriate dimension to cover market needs. This investment has led to the creation of 15 new Jobs.

In addition, Aquadeus has started two new lines of bottling; one for sparkling water and another for natural mineral water. Moreover, it has enlarged its warehouse area by 30 per cent. The objective set by the company is to continue to grow above the sector’s average, increasing productive efficiency, as well as offering all its customers an excellent service.
