‘kaiTech’ has announced six R&D+i scholarships to promote training in robotics and automation and the employability of students

Grupo Fuertes and the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) have presented their new technology-based chair, ‘kaiTech’. The aim is to promote training among UPCT students and researchers in robotic automation tools and methods for improving and optimising production processes, with a real impact mainly on the agri-food sector.

The chair will promote training activities, lines of research and scholarships for students, and will tackle technological projects related to AI, Big Data, Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things (IoT) for application in the business world. This training will improve employability and responsibility in the use of high-level technologies.

The new chair has already launched its first two three-month paid scholarships and is preparing to welcome four more students from the UPCT’s Industrial Engineering and Telecommunications Engineering schools to its experimental AI and emerging technologies laboratory, LAB19, to tackle challenges in the agri-food industry.

The name of the chair, ‘kaiTech’, comes from the Japanese concept ‘kaizen’, which means ‘change or improvement’ and also refers to a method of quality management and continuous improvement applied to the industrial sector.

Grupo Fuertes is increasing its participation in the UPCT Chair Network, of which Cefusa is already a member, and strengthening its commitment to innovation and technological training. The company seeks synergies aimed at connecting the business world with education and preparing young people for new technological challenges.
