The Director of Operations of ELPOZO ALIMENTACIÓN, Juan Pedro Florido, has just been named as the new president of the European Commission’s Civil Dialogue Group (CDG) for the pork industry by an absolute majority. Florido takes over the role, which he will hold for two years, from the German Paul Brand.

The Civil Dialogue Group is the official forum which analyses together with the European Commission all aspects related to the pork industry, such as the market situation, international commerce or animal welfare, and it is organised by the Directorate-General for Agriculture. It is made up of representative organisations from the production sector, sales, business and industry as well as NGO environmentalists and consumer representatives.

For Juan Pedro Florido, this new responsibility means “an enormous challenge which I undertake with great enthusiasm given the economic and social importance the sector which I represent has and for which I am going to work hard to maintain its high levels of transparency, quality, food safety, animal welfare and environmental respect with which it operates”.

Juan Pedro Florido has been working in ELPOZO ALIMENTACIÓN for 27 years, where he has been the director of operations since 18 months ago.  Florido has been president of the European Meat Network (EMN), located in Brussels and has taken part as a speaker in important forums such as the World Meat Congress.

The company ELPOZO ALIMENTACIÓN, with more than 64 years of history, is a global benchmark in good animal welfare practices and dedicates a large part of its resources to guaranteeing that the meat products it sells are the highest quality and the safest for consumption. It has an in-house production system (CIP) which controls all the phases of the food chain, agriculture, livestock, raw material selection, production and customer service, enabling it to ensure the quality of all its products, more than 1500 examples.

This permanent dedication to innovation, quality and food safety has allowed it to consolidate year on year its leadership in the sector. ELPOZO products are found in eight out of ten Spanish households and the company exports to more than 80 countries around the world.
